1. About us

This website is operated by Danny Thornley, trading as Thornley Flooring, a sole trader based in Oswestry, Shropshire ("we," "us," "our"). You can contact us at [email protected] or 07765 007 483.

2. Use of this website

  • This website and its content are provided for general information about our flooring services. We try to keep information accurate and up to date but do not guarantee it is free of errors.
  • Prices, images, and product details shown on the site are indicative only and are not a binding offer. A firm price is only confirmed once we've provided a written quote following a site visit or enquiry.
  • You may not use this website in any way that causes damage to it or impairs its availability, or in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent.
  • All content on this website (text, images, logos) is owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission.

3. Quotes and estimates

  • Quotes provided are valid for 14 days from the date given, unless stated otherwise.
  • Quotes are based on the information and access provided at the time. If the scope of work changes once we're on site (e.g. subfloor damage discovered), we'll discuss and agree any revised price with you before continuing.

4. Booking and payment

  • A booking is confirmed once you accept a quote in writing (email is acceptable) and pay the agreed deposit.
  • Deposit: 50% of the quoted price, payable on booking, as a contribution towards material costs.
  • Balance: due on completion of the work, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • We accept payment by bank transfer or cash.
  • Late payment: where work is carried out for a business customer, we reserve the right to charge interest on overdue invoices in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

5. Cancellation

  • You may cancel or rearrange a booking by giving at least 72 hours' notice.
  • Cancellations with less than 72 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation charge to cover materials already ordered or time reserved, at our discretion.
  • If you are a consumer and booked our services entirely online or by phone without an in-person meeting, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, subject to certain exceptions once work has started at your request.

6. Access and site conditions

  • You are responsible for ensuring we have safe and clear access to the work area, and for moving furniture and other items unless otherwise agreed.
  • Delays caused by lack of access, or site conditions not disclosed to us beforehand, may result in additional charges or rescheduling.

7. Our work and guarantee

We carry out all work with reasonable care and skill, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Lifetime workmanship guarantee

We guarantee our installation workmanship for the lifetime of the product, subject to all of the following conditions being met. For the purposes of this guarantee, the lifetime of the product is defined as the period covered by the manufacturer's product warranty for the flooring installed.

  • All materials, adhesives, and products used are supplied by Thornley Flooring as part of the quoted work — the guarantee does not apply where any materials are sourced or substituted by you or a third party;
  • The installation is carried out entirely by Thornley Flooring;
  • Subfloor preparation is carried out in accordance with our specification and recommendations;
  • The flooring is maintained and used in accordance with our care instructions.

The guarantee covers defects arising from faulty installation only. It does not cover:

  • Faults or defects in the materials or products themselves (these are covered separately, where applicable, by the manufacturer's own warranty);
  • Normal wear and tear;
  • Damage caused by misuse, accidents, or lack of proper maintenance;
  • Changes in subfloor conditions, moisture, or structural movement outside our control;
  • Any work not carried out in full by Thornley Flooring.

This guarantee is personal to the original customer and applies to the property where the work was carried out. It does not affect your statutory rights.

To make a claim under this guarantee, please contact us at [email protected] with details of the issue and, where possible, photographs. We will inspect and advise on next steps.

8. Liability

  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
  • Subject to the above, our liability for any loss arising from the services is limited to the value of the work carried out.
  • We are not liable for pre-existing defects in subfloors, property, or materials not supplied by us, unless caused by our negligence.

9. Complaints

If you're unhappy with any aspect of the work, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] so we can put things right.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time you make a booking.
